The typical configuration for single user systems is shown in the above drawing. Each communication bus consists of 4 wires (2 for transmit and 2 for receive, and is referred as "Multi-drop bus"). Up to 16 controllers can be connected to the bus, which can extend up to 1 km. Each controller on the bus is set with a unique address. The Multi-drop signals are converted to RS232 signals using "Communicators". Therefore communicators interface to PC on one side, and controllers on the other side. When the number of controllers exceed 16, a second bus must be provided. ELID provides communicators with up to 4 buses, that is catering for up to 64 controllers.
For access control application, ELID provides a versatile software package called EsofWIN. This software can work with EL1200 & EL220X Door Access Controllers, EB1205 & EB3000 Car-Park Controllers, and EL2205L/XX Lift Controllers. These controllers can be installed at any location in the bus and in any mixture. During set up, the software is informed of what type of equipment is installed at each address.
This is shown below, and makes use of EL70BS (EL-0070-021) Communicator for linking together all the 16 controllers. The communication bus consists of 2 twisted pairs, and can be just ordinary telephone cables. Maximum bus distance is 1 km. The communicator has a special slot for plugging in a software key. Therefore, you must purchase the key (EK-0021-001). You may download the latest software program and User Manual from our web site, or purchase the CD-ROM copy (EW-EWIN-000). Printed manual is available also, as an option (MN-1013).
This is shown below and makes use of EL75/2 (EL-0075-002) Communicator for linking up to 32 controllers in 2 buses, each with up to 16 controllers. Note that even though there are 2 multi-drop buses, only 1 RS232 port is needed at the PC.
This is shown below and makes use of EL72 Communicator (EL-0072-001) for linking up to 64 controllers in 4 buses, each with up to 16 controllers..
EsofWIN/5 provides facilities for linking to remotely located controllers via dialed up modem. Many configurations are possible with dial up or leased lines. A typical configuration is shown below where part of the network is local, and accessed through standard communicators whereas the other parts of the network are remotely located and are accessed via dial-up modems.
